About 250 homeless children had a gala time during the Kids' Carnival at Novotel Varun Beach on Wednesday. They were from organisations such as Neerikshana, SOS Children's Village (SOS), FXB India Suraksha and Government Children's Home for boys and girls.

District Collector Lav Agarwal observed that it was a good initiative taken for the underprivileged group who could enjoy five-star food and ambience.

The poor and needy children should not be deprived of such fun in their lives.

The gap between what kids could only see and could access was bridged on this occasion.

“It is important to think and execute individual's share of sustainable contributions to the society,” he stated.

HIV positive children and juveniles abandoned by parents took part in the event and exhibited their skills. Fun-filled activities like singing songs, dance competition, demonstration of yogasana and games were conducted. The stage brought many kids twisting and swirling to the tunes of ‘Dookudu', ‘100 per cent love' and other numbers. “I am seeing such a beautiful place for the first time in my life. I want to treasure every moment of this occasion,” said A. Jyothi Reddy, a class X student.

Managing Director of Novotel V. Prabhu Kishore addressed the children and told them to enjoy the day fully. “I have an urge to give a small portion of my earnings to the society.

I don't have any business partners, as a result I have freedom to do what I intend to do for the needy. I would like to spend Rs.1.5 crore per annum as sustainable contributions in the form of education, healthcare and other activities for the destitute and would like to continue doing it for the next 50 years,” he said.

Buffet

General Manager of the hotel Mohd. Shoeb arranged a multi-cuisine buffet lunch for the children.

The carnival concluded at 3.30 p.m. with gifts presented to all the children.
