Homage paid to NTR

March 30, 2013 02:55 pm | Updated 02:55 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The scenario in which N.T. Rama Rao founded TDP is repeating and the fate of the State is still being decided in New Delhi in the present dispensation, former MP M.V.V.S. Murthy has said.

In a brief interaction with media after garlanding the statue of NTR to mark the party foundation day at the party office at Ramnagar on Friday, he said NTR founded the party for certain ideals and the party was not a mere vehicle for politicking. The self-respect (atmagowravam) of Telugus was at stake when NTR founded TDP in 1982. He still enjoyed a pride of place in the hearts of people for his deeds, Mr. Murthy said. But the situation had not changed and the government was still functioning as a branch office for Delhi, he commented.

Mr. Murthy unveiled the party flag at the office in the presence of former minister Bandaru Satyanaryana Murthy, party urban president Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar and former corporators Ch.V. Pattabhiram, P Mutyala Naidu and others. Clothes were given away to the poor. A blood donation camp also organised.
