In three months since it has been started, the GVMC call centre redressed 2,700 of the 3,000 complaints it received. Of the remaining, 200 are being addressed and are at various stages with officials while 100 involved planning and financial commitment and require time. During a visit to the call centre early on Friday morning, Minister for Investment and Infrastructure Ganta Srinivasa Rao interacted with complainants directly finding out from them when and how it was made and about the redress and expressed satisfaction at the initiative. He wanted Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana to further strengthen the system.

He also saw for himself the biometric system of marking attendance, the file-tracking introduced to monitor movement of various files and that of GPS-fitted water tankers.

Biometric system

Chief Medical Officer (Health) P.V. Ramana Murthy said the biometric system was introduced on a pilot basis in two wards in each of the zones and would later be expanded to all the wards in the corporation.

At Peda Jalaripet in Ward 17, fishermen demanded worksheds, laying of roads and improvement in streetlights. Mr. Srinivasa Rao assured them in two weeks their demands would be met.

Additional Commissioner (Projects) K. Ramesh, Chief Engineer B. Jayarami Reddy, UCD Project Director M.N.A. Patrudu, Executive Engineer (Water Supply) Samson Raju and Zone Commissioner P. Durga Prasad participated.
