Bringing a whiff of fresh air after 25 years, the recent film ‘Geetanjali’ charms the movie buffs with a different story altogether. Unlike the previous one that had an overpowering touch of romance, this film has elements of horror and comedy.
With the newly released film being just a week-old, its producer, director and hero say that it is running successfully across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. “The success rate is above our expectations. The film with a budget of Rs.3.75 crore has already made a business of about Rs.15 crore. It is imperative to encourage movies made on a shoe string budget. ‘Geetanjali’ is one such film which made a difference in many a life. Our next plan is to remake it in Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil,” ace writer Kona Venkat who presented the film said.
Except the film’s leading lady Anjali, the crew was here on Monday, celebrating its week-long success. Though the heroine of the film was here last night, it was learnt that she had to rush to Hyderabad after a brief appearance at V-Max theatre.
“I had actor Anjali and comedian Srinivas Reddy in mind before making the film. With limited star cast and a new storyline, it is an unforgettable experience for me as a debutant director to witness success,” said film’s director Raj Kiran.
Success meetProducer of the movie M.V.V. Satyanarayana said that the movie has interesting twists and surprises to draw the audiences to the theatre. Comedian-turned-hero Srinivas Reddy, ‘Shakalaka’ Shankar of ‘Jabardast’ fame and debutant music director Praveen Lakkaraju, who were at the success meet, said that working on this project was special for them in many ways.
