GVMC will provide free tap connections to 12,000 below poverty line (BPL) families in the city.
The State Government has released Rs.2.35 crore towards the contribution of Rs.1,200 by each household for the tap connection.
List of families
The list of the families has been sent to the government for approval and once it is obtained the connections will be provided, says a GVMC release.

Awareness meet on RAY
The Rajiv Awas Yojana of GVMC on Wednesday organised an awareness meeting at Rajivnagar.
Among the aspects that came up for discussion are survey of the land available by colony committee members and officials, preparing a list of those who paid money towards JNNURM housing, those not having individual pattas conforming to RAY housing model proposed.
Project report
It was decided that a detailed project report (DPR) would be prepared by colony committee, according to a press release of ARTD (Urban).
