Four held on charge of cheating bank

They allegedly procured loan of ₹ 34 cr. submitting forged documents

The Pendurthi police on Monday arrested four persons for allegedly procuring a loan amounting to ₹ 34 crore using forged documents. The arrested were identified as Bodasakurthi Gollayya Kapu (50), Joka Vishnu Durga Prasad (55), Joka Srinivas (45) and Yetham Veeraswamy (67), all are natives of Kakinada in East Godavari district and residents of the city. The police are on the job to nab two more accused in connection with the case.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Lanka Arjun said in 2007, Bodasakurthi Gollayya Kapu and Joka Vishnu Durga Prasad with the support of revenue officer Gedela Lakshmi Ganeswara Rao, who was recently arrested on charge of tampering land documents, had allegedly created the forged documents of 6 acres belonging to Simhachalam temple under survey No 3/A4 in Vepagunta and also created title deeds. After registration of the land with the forged documents at Gopalapatnam Sub-Registrar office, they transferred the documents of the land to Gollayya Kapu’s wife as gift deed. In 2014, Gollayya Kapu and others with the forged documents as collateral security, obatinaed a loan of ₹ 34 crore from overseas branch of SBI at Jubilee Hills.

After they defaulted in payment, the SBI officials came to the city and conducted an inquiry. When they found that the passbooks were forged, they informed it to the executive office of Simhachalam temple and the Pendurthi Police registered a case.
