The float festival (teppotsavam) of the presiding deity of Simhachalam Sri Varaha Lakhsmi Nrusimha Swamy was celebrated with fervour on Monday evening.

The float festival is celebrated every year on Pushya Bahula Amavasya.

The Swamy in the avatar of Venugopala Swamy was brought downhill along with His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi by the steps by temple priests. The temple’s Executive Officer K. Ramachandra Mohan welcomed the deities as per custom.

The deities were ceremoniously carried in the palanquin to the Varaha pushkarini and taken around thrice in the Hamsavahanam (float in the form of swan) amid chanting of “Harinamam” by devotees that gathered around the pushkarini.

The palanquin of the deities was carried by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao onto the float. ZP Chairperson Lalam Bhavani participated.

At the kalyanamantapam amid pushkarini, special pujas were performed to the deities by temple head priest Gopalakrishnamacharyulu and “sthanacharyulu” T. P. Rajagopal.

Members of Chandanotsava Committee Boddeti Kasi Viswanatham and G. Srinubabu participated.
