A fisherman died due to partial drowning and exhaustion and four others swam to safety, as the country-made boat in which they sailed out for fishing in the Bay of Bengal capsized in the early hours of Sunday.

According to the Beemunipatnam police, S. Ramanna (65) died while he was being shifted to hospital. The five-member fishermen from Beemunipatnam went for fishing at about 3 a.m. and at around 4 a.m. their boat capsized. The other four members swam to the shore and even helped Ramanna to swim back. But being the oldest member of the team he died out of exhaustion and also gulped in some amount of sea water, said the police.
