ESIC inspector in CBI net

: An insurance inspector of the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Vijayawada, was arrested on Wednesday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 from a complainant. The inspector was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe by the CBI officers.

The accused has been identified as M.K. Khadeeruddin, and he allegedly demanded the bribe from the complainant for not registering a case under the ESIC Act. The complainant some time back had started a garment manufacturing unit under the PMEGP scheme On June 23, the accused had visited the unit and issued a notice for not complying with the provisions of the ESIC Act.

The accused demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000, failing which he threatened to register a case under the ESIC Act.
