Energy Park inaugurated

District Collector and Chairman of VUDA J. Syamala Rao on Wednesday inaugurated the Energy Park atop Kailasagiri, the best known tourist spot in the city. The Energy Park throws light on use of solar energy and has practical demonstration on its benefits. The park is the first of its kind in the State. Mr. Syamala Rao said the park would be an educative experience for visitors, particularly youth and students.

VUDA Vice-Chairman B. Sreedhar said the park was set up at a cost of Rs.10 lakhs on a half-acre site. Solar water heater, cooker, radio and the use of solar energy for functioning of TV and lights will be demonstrated. Apart from the solar energy demonstration, it has good landscaping. The equipment cost is Rs.5.6 lakhs for which Non-conventional Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NEDCAP) has given 50 per cent subsidy. The then District Manager of NEDCAP M.V.K. Raju was instrumental in proposing the park atop Kailasagiri by VUDA and getting it sanctioned.

After inaugurating the park, the Collector inspected the ongoing work on Telugu heritage building, and green house nursery.

VUDA DFO B.V.A. Krishna Murthy, secretary M.S. Bhagavan, Chief Urban Planner K. Anandbabu, Estate Officer A. Jagadeesh, Officer on Special Duty Y. Ramesh, Chief Accounts Officer D. Vijayabharathi, Superintendent Engineer I. Viswanadha Rao, NEDCAP District Manager P.V. Rama Raju participated in the inauguration.
