ENC braces up for Navy Day celebrations

Navy band to perform at RK Beach tomorrow

As a prelude to the Navy Day, which will be celebrated on December 4, Indian Navy will hold a string of events aimed at showcasing the service of the navy, for increasing the awareness among citizens.

The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) too has scheduled a series of activities as part of the Navy Day celebrations. The activities will be spread out over next one month, and will provide an opportunity to local populace to have a closer interaction with the navy.

The celebrations will start with an outreach programme and medical camp organised by INHS Kalayni and INS Dega at Integrated Vikalangula Ashram Pathshala, Atchutapuram on Friday and a public performance of the naval band with its team of skilled musician sailors will be held at VUDA Park, on Saturday from 4.30 pm.

The programme is aimed at acquainting the music-loving public of the city with the professional capabilities of the personnel of the Naval Band.

The band would perform a wide genre of music including popular patriotic songs in addition to medley of popular evergreen Hindi, Telugu and English songs.

Other events being held this month include three blood donation camps by INS Viswakarama, INS Kalinga and Naval Dockyard and Vizag-Navy Half Marathon on November 12.

Another band performance is also scheduled at VUDA Children Arena on November 14, exclusively for children on the occasion of Children’s Day.

A visit to INS Dega for special children is slated for November 17.

In addition visit to naval ships for schoolchildren and organised groups is planned on November 26 and 27.

Navy-Day activities would culminate with operational demonstration at RK Beach on December 4.
