Education system that inculcates values to the students is true education, said E.S.L. Narasimhan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

He was delivering the valedictory address to the principals, correspondents and other delegates from Sri Sathya Sai Schools who had come from across the country to attend the three-day Fifth National Convention of Sathya Sai Schools, here on Sunday.

Focussing on value system, the Governor said that education should not just impart knowledge but develop the intellect of the students. “It is the basic values that make human beings stand apart from the other species,” he said. According to him, the concept of nationalism begins at schools and teachers should train students in such way that they become useful to society and the country.

He urged the Sathya Sai School Management to focus on the rural sector, as still 60 per cent of Indians live in rural areas. Earlier, All India president of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation Nimish Pandya informed the gathering that about 900 schools will be started by the Sathya Sai Trust in the rural areas, as per the vision of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

He also said that plans are ready to adopt about 3,000 villages across the country.

Mr. Nimish Pandya informed the gathering that quality education was being imparted through 102 Sathya Sai Schools all over India to over 60,000 students through 2,300 teachers. Satyajit, director of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini, spoke about Vidya Vahini, the tech initiative by the school in association with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

The three-day convention also saw students from various parts of the country taking part in a science exhibition.

Trustees of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, R.J. Ratnakar, K. Chakravarthy, S.S. Naganand and H.J. Dora, S.G. Chalam, State president of Sathya Sai Seva Organisation of AP and Telangana and Ms. Vimala Narasimhan were present.
