Drawing on its rich experience in drumming up support for its movements, the CPI(M) on Saturday organised a ‘Dappu motha’ to call people’s attention to the party’s public meeting on Sunday afternoon on the Beach Road.
Hundreds of party workers from across the State playing traditional ‘dappu’ wearing red coloured dresses and headbands, drummed up traditional beats and staged impromptu dances en route Port Sports Complex at Akkayyapalem, venue of the ongoing 21{+s}{+t}Congress of the party, to Dondaparthy .
Rally flagged off
The public meeting would also be announcing the arrival of the new team at the helm of affairs of the party at the end of the six-day party 21{+s}{+t}Congress. CPI (M) State secretary P. Madhu, accompanied by party district secretary B. Ganga Rao, flagged off the rally by beating a traditional Dappu.
Condemning the anti-worker policies of the Congress and BJP, he asserted that the CPI (M) is the only alternative to the two political parties at the national level. The Left parties shall take up struggles on people’s issues, he declared and said that they would organise agitations to make the State Government live up to its promise of loan waiver for farmers and members of self help groups, Mr. Madhu said.
On Sunday a rally would be taken out from RTC Complex in the heart of the city to Ramakrishna Beach, in which thousands of party workers and sympathisers are expected to participate.
The public meeting would be presided over by CPI (M) Polit Bureau member B.V. Raghavulu and Polit Bureau members, Prakash Karat, Brinda Karat, Sitaram Yechury and Manik Sarkar.
