‘Crorepati’ woman official in ACB net

Raids conducted in eight places; property worth Rs. 10 crore detected

: A special team from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) led by DSP Kinjarapu Ramakrishna Prasad, raided the office and houses belonging to M. Vijaylakshmi, Project Director of Women and Child Welfare Department, Visakhapatnam, on Friday.

ACB has issued proceeding under Cr. Pc section 41 for amassing wealth disproportionate to her known sources of income.

The raids were simultaneously conducted in eight places, including five places in Visakhapatnam that included her office, at the residence of her daughter in Bengaluru, at the her mother-in-law’s house in Kanumolu in Ongole and at her relatives house in Kavali in Nellore.

The ACB sleuths seized documents pertaining to a two-storied building in PM Palem, one independent house at PM Palem, 750 sq yds plot at PM Palem, two plots measuring 784 and 119 sq yds at Bhogapuram, one apartment at Bakkannapalem, one apartment near Peda Waltair, one shop and one outhouse in the Kirlampudi area, 2.71 acres at Ellamanchili and 1.71 acre at Kanumolu in Ongole.

Bank deposits

The ACB officials also seized bank deposits worth Rs. 12 lakh, cash at home to the tune of Rs. 3.5 lakh, gold at home 700 gm and gold at bank locker 600 gm.

The tainted officer was also in possession of three cars.

According to Mr. Ramakrishna Prasad, she was the first woman district-level officer to be raided in the city and the property seized was having a market value of about Rs. 10 crore.
