CPI(M) announces literary awards

The awards to be presented at the venue on April 18

Keeping in line with the tradition of the CPI (M) to encourage literature, culture, and fine arts, the party organised competitions in writing, novels, short stories, and poetry in Telugu and an international cartoon competition in connection with the ongoing 21st party Congress, CPI (M) Polit Bureau member B.V. Raghavulu said announcing the names of the winners.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, Mr. Raghavulu said that at the time of deciding Visakhapatnam as venue of the party Congress, the State was undivided therefore the entire organisation of the event was undertaken jointly by the State units of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The entries for the writings were received from both Telugu speaking states, he added. There were 31 entries for novels on the present socio-political situation. The awards would be given away on April 18 at the Vizag Fest 2015 venue.

In the novels category, ‘Vyuham’ by Sriramsetti Kanta Rao of Paloncha in Khammam district got the first prize. He would be getting Rs. 30,000. Second prize of Rs 20,000 would be given away to Sannapureddy Venkataram Reddy of Balarajupalle in Kadapa district for his ‘Mabbulu Valani Nela’. The third prize of Rs. 10,000 would be given away to G Nageswara Rao – Ganara – of Kakinada for his ‘Kadali Kallolam’.

In the short story category, C.V.N. Prasad of Hyderabad would be given away Rs. 10,000 for his story ‘Kadalika’. Peddinti Ashok Kumar of Siricilla in Karimnagar district would be given away second prize of Rs. 5,000 for his story ‘Cheema Cheema Enduku Puttavu’. The third prize of Rs. 3,000 would be given away to M.V. Rami Reddy of Hyderabad for ‘Repati Beedu’.

In poetry section, first prize of Rs. 3,000 would be given away to K Ashajyoti of Bengaluru for her ‘Pottupoyyi’, second prize of Rs. 2,000 would be given away to K. Ramesh of Illendu in Khammam district for ‘Nako Manishi Kavali’ and the third prize of Rs. 1000 would be given away to Ryali Prasad of Kakinada for ‘Jeevana Bata’, the CPI (M) Polit Bureau member announced.
