CPI (M) condemns Trinamool govt. for attack on people

April 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 03:18 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Saturday condemned the West Bengal government, the ruling party and the State machinery for their all-out attack on the people during the municipal elections in Kolkata. Left Front chairman Biman Bose described Saturday’s polls as a “farce” and a message to the 1.5 crore voters scheduled to cast their votes in 91 municipalities on April 25.

The CPI(M) alleged there was widespread subversion of democracy and democratic rights in the State now. The party noted that the policies of the Trinamool, which encouraged fundamentalism of various forms, were providing fertile ground for fascist organisations like the RSS and other members of the Hindutva brigade to expand their presence in West Bengal. In separate resolutions adopted at the ongoing 21{+s}{+t} party congress, the CPI(M) took a serious view of the developments in West Bengal where a wide range of crime, including murder, physical attacks and rape, was being perpetrated against the CPI(M) and Left Front sympathisers.
