CPI demands resignation of Union Ministers

August 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 12:30 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary K. Ramakrishna demanded the resignation of Union Ministers from AP M. Venkaiah Naidu, Nirmala Seetharaman, Sujana Chowdary and Ashok Gajapathi Raju to resign from the Cabinet, if they were committed to getting ‘Special Status’ for Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a media conference here on Friday, the CPI State secretary alleged that the Union Ministers from AP were doing nothing except issuing statements on getting ‘special status’ and wondered what they were doing when Union Minister Inderjit Singh had ruled out the prospect of any state getting ‘special status’. The Prime Minister had not made any comment on the issue so far. Mr. Ramakrishna demanded that the MPs from AP should stage a dharna outside Parliament and the Chief Minister should convene an all-party meeting on the issue. He also wanted the Centre to come out with a statement on ‘special packages’ for backward North Andhra and Rayalaseema districts.
