The City Congress Committee staged a protest on Tuesday against the police taking into custody of APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy, MP K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao and former people’s representatives when they visited the Prakasam barrage in Vijayawada on Monday to protest against the Telangana government’s decision to build irrigation projects that would harm the interests of Andhra Pradesh.

APCC general secretary Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, City Congress president Behera Bhaskara Rao and other leaders and party workers took out a rally from the party office and formed a human chain near Venkateswara theatre and blocked the traffic for some time.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao criticised the ruling Telugu Desam government for not able to secure the funds and assurances due to the people of AP and the opposition party YSR Congress for keeping quiet on the issue.
