Buffeted by desertions in the district as well as elsewhere and series of elections looming large, Congress has put up a brave front targeting “migrant birds” and “political traders” at a meeting at Gopalapatnam on Saturday even as its MLA Malla Vijay Prasad was conspicuous by his absence.
AP Congress Committee president Botcha Satyanarayana found fault with former Union Minister D. Purandeswari for joining BJP that had staunchly supported bifurcation even as she accused Congress of splitting the State without taking their concern into consideration. The UPA government had divided the State after all the parties agreed but they later took a U-turn.
TDP president and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu never uttered a word about keeping the State united and YSRC also spoke of equitable justice, he said.
The meeting was organised by City Congress president Behera Bhaskara Rao, an aspirant for the Visakhapatnam West Assembly seat, ostensibly to felicitate T. Subbarami Reddy on his election to the Rajya Sabha for the third term.
Mr. Subbarami Reddy said he would remain in Congress and serve the people of Visakhapatnam till his last breath. Union Minister for IT Killi Krupa Rani and othersparticipated.
