Former Minister Dadi Veerabhadra Rao has demanded that a lift scheme on the Godavari at Pursuhottapatnam be completed in a year to supply water to Visakhapatnam as announced by Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma Maheswar Rao.
Mr. Rao convened a meeting of farmers’ association and thanked the Chief Minister and the Irrigation Minister.
Even if the project was not completed by June 2018, at least three packages on the LMC should be completed so that 1000 cusecs could be provided to Visakhapatnam.
Mr. Rao thanked the Irrigation Minister over phone and the latter informed that action would be taken against contractors delaying the work on the canal.
