Three-day travel and tourism exhibition gets under way

A three-day travel and tourism exhibition ‘Holiday Expo 2014’ opened at The Gateway hotel here on Friday.

Visitors can make a virtual tour of various destinations in India and abroad by going through the pamphlets and posters on display and plan their trips accordingly. Some of the participants are also giving special offers for those who book at the expo.

The participants in the expo include Gujarat Tourism, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, Delhi, Lakshadweep, Malaysia and Mauritius besides AP Tourism. Travel agents, tour operators, destination management companies, hotels and resorts, cruises, airline operators and online travel portals are also participating in the expo.

“There is immense potential for both domestic and international tourism in view of the growing economy and a tremendous increase in spending capacities and a growing desire among the people to see the world,” said project head (AP) of Holiday Expo Srinivas.

“The response to the fair was encouraging soon after the inauguration and we expect more visitors on Saturday and Sunday,” he said.

Country Manager – India of Malindo Air Kavita Joshi said that visitors to the expo who book at their stall could avail of the airlines inaugural offer of Rs.13,666 to fly to Kuala Lumpur. The offer would be valid for the travel period would be February 15 to March 31, 2015.

Earlier, the expo was formally inaugurated by O. Naresh Kumar of Vizag Development Council.
