CITU ridicules Naidu’s claim on Singapore model

April 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

CITU State general secretary M.A. Gafoor on Monday lampooned Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his claims to develop Andhra Pradesh on the lines of Singapore and Shanghai.

“He is not only competing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in undertaking foreign trips but also indulging in pep talk to attract global investors,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi and Mr. Naidu were on the same page and dancing to the tune of the corporate lobby to dilute labour laws. The CITU leader told The Hindu on the sidelines of the State council meeting of CITU here, that both of them were bent upon keeping the corporates in good humour by converting ‘Make in India’ into ‘loot in India’ campaign.

Mr. Gafoor said in the name of ‘Make in India’ foreign investors were being encouraged in core sectors and several orders were being placed for importing high-value equipment and finished products for defence and other sectors. Mr. Modi was now proposing to take away 80 per cent of industrial workers out of the purview of labour, he said.

As a prelude to proposed general strike in June, CITU will hold district conventions in all 13 districts of the State by May 20.
