‘Chaitanya Yatra’ in Hudhud-hit areas ends

The five-day ‘Chaitanya Yatra’, organised under the aegis of National Campaign of Dalit Human Rights and Dalit Bahujan Sramika Union by Samaja Chaitanya Swachanda Seva Sangham (SCSSS) in Hudhud-hit areas in the North Andhra coastal districts from December 6 was concluded on the World Human Rights Day here on Wednesday.

P. Chittibabu, the State DBSU secretary, said that the yatra was organised to create awareness among cyclone affected people on their rights.

He said meetings were conducted in 48 villages in the three districts. During the yatra, about 580 cyclone-affected victims had complained to him that due to political pressure enumeration was not recorded properly and they received inadequate relief from the government, he said in a statement.
