Former Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) State president Ch.Narsinga Rao had a dig at the Central and the State governments for watering down a massive mother and child nutrition movement like the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) and neglecting the Anganwadi workers who are the lifeline of the ICDS by starving the project of funds.
Addressing the 7 State convention of A.P. Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, he said that it was unwise on the part of the Central government to undo what it had built over the years since 1975 October 2 when the central government launched 33 ICDS projects. Earlier, the Anganwadi workers took out a huge rally from the local Saraswati park to Ambedkar circle. CITU All India secretary K.Hemalatha, State president M.Saibabu, secretary R.Sudhabhaskar and Anganwadi president and secretary Lalithamma and P.Roza and other local leaders participated.
