Call to stay away from drugs, alcohol

3-day blood donation camps conclude

People should stay away from drugs, said B. Hare Ram , Commissioner, Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax here on Monday.

He was speaking after releasing a poster against drug use at the conclusion of the blood donation camps held during the past three days by CMR, Symbiosys Technologies, Rotary Blood Bank, NTR Blood bank, AS Raja /Blood bank, Public Relations Society of India and JCI.

Stating that drugs and alcohol were very dangerous, he said despite attempts by enforcement agencies to prevent drug trafficking, cocaine and other dangerous narcotics were in heavy demand in the market. The poster reading ‘Stay Away from Alcohol & Drugs’ was prepared by Green Valley Society, an NGO.

600 units donated

In all, 600 units of blood were donated, Symbiosys Technologies CEO Naresh Kumar said. Among others, Mavoori Balaji of CMR Central, G. Sambasiva Rao, president-elect, AP Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Blood Bank chairman B.K. Rai, Pinnacle Hospital director Nivedita, and PRSI Visakhapatnam chapter secretary P.L.K. Murthy were present.
