‘By-poll results should be an eye-opener for BJP

September 18, 2014 01:10 am | Updated 01:10 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Deputy Leader of Congress in Telangana Council Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy has said the by-election results should be an eye-opener to the BJP-led NDA Government.

The BJP has suffered setbacks in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and even in Gujarat earlier ruled by Narendra Modi himself conceding the seats to Samajwadi Party and Congress.

It showed that there had been no development in the last 100 days. On the other hand, prices of essential commodities had gone up and train fares were increased, Mr. Reddy pointed out at a press conference here.

He said both Mr. Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrasekhar Rao had failed to deliver in the first 100 days. KCR, who blamed the Congress for not officially celebrating Telangana, now did not do it under his own rule and workers of parties celebrating the event were lathicharged, he alleged.

He also condemned blocking of two TV channels in Telangana. KCR was still acting like he was leading a movement and his comments did not behove the position he held, he said.

At Nandigama, though the Congress lost, it improved its position, he said. District Youth Congress president Tulasiram was present.
