Even as a child, he was drawn to art. The texture, the expressions, and the colour combination that make up the craft is the only world that K.S. Kamesh is keen on focusing. The city-based artist has so far done 500 paintings, mostly using acrylic on canvas. He prefers to work on heritage and culture as his themes.
His love for art and urge to excel made his recent work ‘Balanagamma Burrakatha’ gain entry into the Art Revolution Taipei, the four-day international painting competition of the Taiwan International Contemporary Artist Association, to be held from April 17 to 20. “I was competing with 3,017 artists from 70 countries across the world and was shortlisted for the final round. This is the first time my painting has been recognised at the international level. And I am glad to represent our country,” Kamesh says. “An artist views things differently. His way of reacting to a particular situation differs from others. Moreover, an artist’s mind is more composed and stress-free, which is a luxury in today’s world,” he says. Kamesh has been part of six international group painting shows and 20 domestic exhibitions. He is working as art teacher in Bala Bharati Public School, NTPC. He says, “Art not only adds life to your imagination but also makes you enjoy what you are doing.”
