The task of resolving the dispute between two groups in the district is rested with the high command, said senior leader of Telugu Desam Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy here on Wednesday.

Party’s senior leader and former Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu decided to quit party posts and remain as an ordinary member when his close associate Peela Srinivas, who was replaced by Ganesh Kumar as city party president and later suspended from the party when his followers obstructed Mr. Satyanarayana Murthy from garlanding the statue of N.T. Rama Rao at Pendurthy on January 18, alleging that Mr. Murthy was behind the suspension. Later, the party decided to send a two-man committee to probe into the incident and decide the fate of Mr. Srinivas and others. Senior leaders like Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Dadi Veerabhadra Rao and Polit Bureau member Yenamala Ramakrishna tried to bring a truce between Mr. Satyanarayana Murthy and Mr. Patrudu but the latter did not budge. His followers like State secretary Kona Tata Rao, city general secretary Pothana Reddy and others too sent in their resignations, which are pending with the high command.

On Wednesday, Mr. Satyanarayana Murthy said after addressing a press conference on Monday’s seizure of a lorry load of steel products being smuggled out of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, that he would not discuss the suspensions and resignations. “I leave it to the high command. It will decide”.
