Everyone should consume fruits that grow in their region and save the seeds after drying them. Once dried, they should sow them in areas where plant life is low, said Andhra University Registrar Velagapudi Uma Maheswara.

He was speaking a programme organised by Paryavarana Margadarsi Vaisakhi (PMV) on seed balls awareness, here on Tuesday.

Everyone should sow the seeds during the monsoon, so that they germinate as plants and which can be then watered and allow them become trees, he said.

Founder of PMV S. Vijaya Kumar said PMV was working towards creating such awareness among people.

“We should make it a point not to waste these seeds and make sure every seed germinates to grow into fruit bearing trees not only for us but our future generations,” Mr. Vijaya Kumar said .

According to him, planting trees have multiplying affect. They only provide us food and shelter and gives oxygen, but even acts as a support system to animals, flora and fauna, he said.
