APITA assesses job aspirants through Virtual Reality games

Drives in progress to recruit 5,000 candidates by the month-end

As part of the Look for Employees in Andhra Pradesh (LEAP) that was launched simultaneously in Guntur and Nellore districts on May 15, the AP Information Technology Academy (APITA) has undertaken recruitment drives in all the districts to provide 5,000 jobs in more than 100 companies by the month-end.

For the first time, the APITA is using loop reality platform – Perspective AI and virtual reality to assess personality traits, cognitive skills and cultural fitness of the candidates. The assessment is done completely through VR games.

Salary package

Before the commencement of the mega job drive, the APITA had conducted job fairs in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati in the past eight months and facilitated 6,120 jobs with an average CTC of ₹2.5 lakh to ₹3 lakh per annum.

APITA Additional CEO Winny Patro told The Hindu on Sunday that the drives attracted several big recruiters including Infosys, HCL, Walmurt, Future Group, Paytm, Flipkart, GMR and education technology learning portal Byjus. He said the maximum CTC offered to the canidatates was ₹9 lakh per annum by Byjus.

He said the recruitment drives across 13 districts from May 16 to 29 was aimed at offering decent jobs to students passing out from 2015 in IT, ITES, electronics, banks and other fields. During the drive, many colleges are extending support by providing their infrastructure free of cost. Each college is providing 200 student-volunteers and 100 faculty members. No registration or other fees is collected from the aspirants.

Job opportunities are offered in IT, healthcare, hospitality, logistics, banking, automation engineering, sales, marketing, customer relationship management, graphic designers and web application designers.

Recruitment schedule

During the drive held in Nellore and Guntur on May 16 and 17, Krishna and Kurnool on May 18 and 19 nearly 4,700 candidates attended, 998 selected and 1476 were short-listed. The drive will be conducted in Kadapa and Srikakulam at Sri Sivani College of Engineering and Sri Sivani College of Engineering respectively on May 21 and 22, Vizag and Chittoor at Novle Institute of Science and Technology and Mother Teresa College of Engineering and Technology on May 23 and 24, Anatapur and Vizianagaram at PVKK Institute of Technology and Lendi Institute Engineering and Technology on May 25 and 26 and East Godavari and Prakasam at Aditya Engineering College and Prakasam Engineering College on May 28 and 29.
