APEWIDC official in ACB net

Superintending Engineer of Andhra Pradesh Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation (APEWIDC) Karri Bhaskar Rao was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on the charge of amassing wealth disproportionate to the known sources of his income, here on Wednesday.

Four teams from the Central Investigation Unit (CIU) of ACB under the guidance of DG of ACB M. Malakondaiah conducted raids at four places simultaneously in Visakhapatnam.

According to DSP of CIU S.V.V. Prasad Rao, the raids were conducted at an apartment of the officer in Kirlampudi and in two other flats in the same apartment complex belonging to his sister and his friend. This apart, the ACB officials also raided his office at MVP Colony.

According to the ACB, the total documents and valuables seized was about Rs. 1.64 crores, which has a market value of about Rs. 20 crore. The documents and valuables seized include two flats in posh Kirlampudi layout in Visakhapatnam, one house plot in Rajahmundry, three house plots in Visakhapatnam, two four wheelers, two motorbikes, cash in bank and in hand Rs. 3 lakh, gold of 1.2 kg, FDRs worth Rs. 2 lakh and household articles to the tune of Rs. 10 lakh.

The officer Bhaskar Rao joined services about 30 years ago and was posted in the SC Corporation. Post the creation of APEWIDC, he moved into the department.

According to ACB officials, the officer will be produced before the ACB Special Court on Thursday.

The CIU team was assisted by ACB teams from Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam.
