Collector Pravin Kumar on Wednesday warned doctors, who abstain from their duty in the Agency areas, of criminal action and recovery of their salaries.

The Collector visited the G.K. Veedhi and Chintapalli mandals to take stock of the health situation in the Agency areas. He inspected the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) at Sileru, Darakonda and Sapparla and issued instructions to the medical officers. At the Darakonda PHC, he found that Medical Officer Kanaka Appa Rao had not reported for duty from last Friday.

He directed the authorities concerned to lodge criminal cases against the doctor. He asked the ITDA Project Officer to set up a monitoring cell to supervise the functioning of medical officers in the Agency areas. He asked the PO to get information about the doctors from local people’s representatives and officials instead of depending on the Medical and Health Department for information.

The Collector also asked the PO to get an estimate prepared through the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) for undertaking repairs to the ambulance at the Darakonda PHC. Another vehicle should be sent as a replacement till the repairs were completed.

He said it was the responsibility of the medical officers to ensure that all the ambulances at the PHCs in the Agency were in working condition and they had adequate fuel.

At the Sileru PHC, Mr. Pravin Kumar inspected the drug samples and the reports generated. He asked the officials to start treatment immediately, without waiting for the test reports, when fever was detected.

‘Funds not a problem’

He issued orders that the medical officers could draw ₹10,000 for emergency official needs from the Hospital Development Funds.

The Collector also visited the Government Ashram Schools for Girls and Boys at Sileru, interacted with the inmates and inspected the amenities.

Later interacting with media persons, the Collector said the first round of IRS spraying was completed in all villages in the Agency and the second round would be completed by July 15.

Drugs were available at the sub centres and kits were available with Asha workers.

He said there was five per cent decrease in malaria cases this year compared to last year. Medical camps would be organised as and when required.

ITDA PO Ravi Pattanshetty and District Medical and Health Officer Uma Sundari accompanied the Collector.
