Colour adds life to many in myriad forms, especially for those who have endured many ups and downs in their lives.
Keeping the otherwise dull world of many muted voices of Government Children’s Home for Boys in view, Ken Foundation Society brought smiles on the faces of 65 children staying in the hostel with its beautification project termed ‘Paint a Smile’ here on Sunday.
A team of 45 amateur artists, belonging to the society and a few students of Andhra University’s Fine Arts Department, came forward to give the hostel room and class rooms a new look. Armed with fabric paints and a bunch of brushes, they set to work to pour life to several cartoon characters like ‘Tweety’, ‘Mickey Mouse’, ‘Kitty White’, ‘Tom and Jerry’ and ‘Chota Bheem’.
For the volunteers, who were part of the concept, it was fun to bring their imaginations to life that lasted for about five hours.
After witnessing an overwhelming response for the project last year, it has been taken up by the representatives of the society for the second time. “In 2013, we painted caricatures at the paediatrics ward of the King George Hospital. This year, we want to heighten the happiness quotient of the children at the home. Since their lives are normally dull and lonely, we hope that the colourful walls will definitely pep up their spirits,” president of Ken Foundation Society P. Santosh said.
