Enrolment of eligible voters must be hundred per cent and the task should be completed by doing house-to-house survey, State Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal told officials of GVMC and urban mandal officers here on Saturday.
He explained steps to be taken to enrol slum-dwellers and Girijans living in remote villages in the Agency.
Lists must be prepared based on 2011 census for enrolment and old and dilapidated buildings in which the polling stations are located identified so that locations for new polling stations could be identified in their place.
Polling stations could be established in community halls in areas where there are many large apartment complexes, Mr. Bhanwar Lal said.
“While registering new voters, their old address should be noted in part 4 of Form VI, delete their names in the rolls of voters’ list of that area and register them in the present area. This will avoid duplication,” he said.
The CEO told the officials to take up campaign in colleges, polytechnics and professional colleges to explain to the students aged above 18 years about registering as voters and exercising the franchise. An active student from each college be made ambassador for registering as voter and election process.
Steps must be taken to make every employee of the State and Central governments and PSUs to use the postal ballot facility in an election, he said.
