Tune in to what women say about the advantages of a bank job

In a line of work where one has an opportunity to relocate once in every three years and start all over again, what makes banking one of the most sought-after professions among women?

While some agree that equal opportunities are provided to move up the career graph, many admit the fact they have a sense of belonging towards the profession. Women employees of State Bank of India, who were here in the city to participate in the State-level conference of women officers, shared their professional experiences. Bindu Janardhan, Chief Manager, Nandigram branch, has brought down non-performing assets, significantly. Her prudent banking strategies helped her move up the ladder fast from the level of a clerk-cashier. “Being adaptable and the ability to enjoy what you do add value to your profession,” she said. Time constraint is an important feature that many women think hard before opting for banking as a career.

For a young banker like Shweta Nauni from Rishikesh, the decision to join the bank was well planned. The reason she said, “working in a public sector bank provides me job satisfaction.” Some said a bank job was no more considered stress-free. Neeta Rao from Vijayawada, offered a smart solution for a better workplace. She said, “in order to deal with the challenges, you have to keep yourself updated The younger ones are more tech-savvy while the matured bankers are well versed with the prudential banking norms..”
