Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra on Saturday said the establishment of MSME Technology Centre here would give a big boost to skill development. He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Technology Centre. The Union government will spend nearly Rs.150 crore for creating tool rooms and other facilities in an area of 20 acres allotted to it by APIIC.
Mr. Mishra promised all help to Andhra Pradesh for its development and praised the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in building the new State. He said 15 Technology Centres would come up across the country as per decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to create skilled manpower under ‘Make in India’ programme.
He promised to allot funds liberally under the scheme for promotion of innovation, rural industry and entrepreneurship (ASPIRE) launched by the Ministry of MSME.
The Technology Centre in the district will be the fifth centre for which foundation stone was laid. This is the first such unit in AP. The Technology Centre will cater to general engineering sector. Tool manufacturing, training and consultancy will be main activities of the Technology Centre.
Earlier, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu sought establishment of Technology Centres at Vijayawada, Amaravati and Tirupati.
Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said the sanction of Technology Centre for Visakhapatnam was a pointer to the fact that the Centre for keen in accelerating development in AP.
