A happy reunion after 25 years

What happens when friends meet after 25 years? They say it is something that should be experienced. And for those who studied in BVK Degree College in 1988, it was the most special day when they came together recently to celebrate silver jubilee reunion.

The alumni of 1988-1991 batch made the most of the occasion as majority of them arrived from far flung places. Of the113 former students, 25 were able to meet and spend the rest of the day listening to their teachers and friends.

As part of the resolution, those who have come from US, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Surat and Ahmedabad decided to deliver guest lectures whenever they visit the port city. The local former students said they would be conducting road safety awareness programmes at Dwarakanagar, Gurudwara junction and other busy spots on a regular basis.

Reminiscing his college days, Dilip Patro, who became wheelchair-bound after he met with a road accident, said it was the first time ever the alumni met post their graduation. “The classroom strength used to be 80 per cent girls and 20 per cent boys then. We have come across best of teachers who left an indelible mark on us, imbibing values and imparting education. The interesting part is that most of our classmates came forward to lend a helping hand to the Ability Rehabilitation Centre to develop infrastructure and support our team during awareness camps,” he said.
