A group of second and final year students and the staff of Sun International Institute of Technology And Management (SIITAM) conducted ‘Snacks Fiesta’ with village as the theme.
Around 350 students organised the programme, working on the theme for the last three days. The village atmosphere was well enhanced in the form of huts, birds and food displayed in traditional earthen containers. The regional snacks included kesari, bonda, mirchi bajji, sunnundalu, karapa-pusa, pappu vada, garelu, jentikalu and boorelu. The floor was decorated with fresh and colourful flowers.
Fruit carving
Eye-catching vegetable and fruit carvings using bottle gourd, carrot, pumpkin, watermelon and many others were also on display. Men in dhoti and white shirt and women dressed up in half-sari added to the traditional fervour. This is the ninth time the management is conducting such an event, said Principal of the institute Satish Ponnam. “We have conducted a host of events such as Mugulai festival, South Indian festival, chef competitions and others. Since event management is part of the hotel management course, the platform equips the students to manage events on their own,” he said.
Apart from the local students, the institute has students from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and other states.
Speaking on the success of the event, executive director of the institute Asha Jasti said, “The credit goes to the students’ involvement in every aspect.
Right from forming a theme to organising the event and preparing snacks, everything is done by a team of 350 students and we only extended our support to them.”
