Celebrating life the only way they know, writers from north Andhra districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam have their own style and can be called a distinct genre. A compilation of works in Telugu of over 100 writers from the three districts has been brought out by Visalaandhra Publications.

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju released the compilation and handed over the first copy to AU Registrar K. Ramamohan Rao at the ongoing book exhibition of the Visalandhra Book House at Turner’s Choultry here on Thursday.

Among the 110 writers are Gurajada, Narayana Rao, Sri Sri, Chaaso, Raavi Sastri, Gandikota Brahmaji Rao and some new age writers like Aruna Pappu, Ayyagari Seetaratnam, Chintakinda Srinivas, Chandu Subba Rao, and Jagadhatri.

North Andhra has been home to many towering personalities in Telugu literature. The writers like Gurajada Appa Rao were trendsetters in their own age and were followed even now, the Vice-Chancellor said after releasing the book. He later went around the book exhibition and appreciated the Book House for organising the annual exhibition.

“The compilation in a way fulfils the aspirations of the people of the region in getting due recognition for their literary talent and it is befitting that Visalaandhra Book House is publishing it. It has been helping many new writers find their space in society by publishing their works, CPI State assistant secretary J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy said.
