Former Rajya Sabha member Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad here on Thursday said he would launch an agitation if Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu failed to fulfil all the promises that he made before elections to promote Telugu language, here on Thursday.

According Mr. Lakshmi Prasad, the CM during his run up to 2014 election had mentioned quite a few things such as making Urdu and Telugu compulsory from primary to high school, introduce Telugu as medium of official communication in government administration as far as possible, setting up of a Telugu Viswa Vidyalayam (Telugu University), starting an exclusive Telugu academy and putting pressure on the Union government to make Telugu as the second official vernacular language.

Forgotten commitments

“But the Chief Minister has failed on all counts and now he is planning to change the medium of instruction in schools to English. Well that is fine, but what about the commitments he made earlier,” Mr. Lakshmi Prasad said.
