Intermediate examinations commenced on a peaceful note with no untoward incident reported from anywhere in the district on Wednesday.

As against 54,828 who registered to appear for the junior Intermediate examination from the district, 52,913 candidates took the examination with 1,915 failing to turn up on the first day.

118 centres

The examination was held at 118 centres -- 64 in the city, 40 in the rural areas and 14 in the Agency of the district. Regional Inspection Officer of the Intermediate Board T. Nagesh Kumar said that five sitting squads and four flying squads were deputed to the district.

CC cameras were installed at problematic centres in the Agency areas and there were no complaints of mass copying or other irregularities from any of the centres.

Earlier in the day, many candidates were seen arriving at the examination centres in the city an hour before the commencement at 9 a.m.

Many parents, who accompanied their children, waited anxiously till they were allowed into the examination hall, half-an-hour before the commencement of the examination.

Those who came early had ample time to check the rooms allotted to them based on their roll numbers. Those who came at the last minute rushed in and came back to check their rooms on the boards kept outside at some of the examination centres.
