She takes audience on a musical journey with hit numbers

It was a captivating evening as the queen of playback singing of the 90s Alka Yagnik regaled the audience in the city with a grand musical performance at AU Convocation Hall here on Saturday.

After an hour's wait, she came on stage amidst a loud uproar from the crowd that sat patiently waiting for their favourite singer. Alka surprised the audience by arriving from the end of the hall and started off with the 90s hit track, "Kuch kuch hota hai".

After that, the singer took the audience to a musical journey with some of her most popular songs. Before every song, Alka asked the audience to dance and sing along with her.

Maiden visit

"I always used to think I have performed in almost every city but not in Vizag. So this was the day meant for my performance here," shared the charming singer decked in a blue and green ethnic attire. , ‘Ek do teen’, ‘Gazab ka hai din’, ‘Lal dupatta’, were some of the songs sung by Alka Yagnik during the show.

The evening organised by Rohit Memorial Trust left the audience enthralled. The evening was particularly special for three local young musical talents V. Akhila, J.V. Srividya and Anuhya Vinjamuri, the top three winners of the ‘Voice of Vizag’ competition who shared the stage with the Bollywood singer and performed medleys.

Beaming with excitement, Anuhya said it was a dream-come-true for her to perform before the noted singer whom she idolised. “I have been practising hard for the evening,” said the second year MBBS student, who was the winner of the Bol Baby Bol first series musical reality show and has been nurturing a passion for singing since her childhood.
