3 inter-State ganja smugglers arrested

The Kothakota police on Monday arrested three inter-State ganja smugglers and seized 40 kgs of dry ganja when the trio was transporting the weed in a car at Dondapudi check-post in the district.

The arrested were identified as V. Chandramohan (34), native of Ayyampattu in Tamil Nadu, Prabhakaran Mohan (23), native of Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu and Kompally Rajesh (28), native of Warangal in Telangana.

The police said Chandramohan havd been indulging in the illegal business and Vizag rural police have registered six cases against Chandramohan under NDPS Act at various police stations limits in the district in the past.

On a tip-off, the Kothakota police intensified the vehicular check and intercepted the car at Dondapudi area. Noticing the police team, the trio tried to flee from the spot. However, the police managed to nab the trio and seized the contraband stuff that was found in the car. “We have arrested some locals, who supplied ganja to Chandramohan in the past and based on concrete information, we conducted the raid,” said a police officer.
