May 18, 2014 09:35 pm | Updated 09:35 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Three Improvised Explosive Devises (IED) were detected by the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on a road passing through Machkund Hydro Power Station, which is located on the highly sensitive Andhra Orissa Border (AOB), on Sunday.

“The IEDs are believed to have been placed by the Maoists targeting the Central Reserve Police Force personnel who are involved in the anti-Maoist operation,” said BSF Assistant Commandant Upendra Singh.

The BSF personnel who were requisitioned for the recently concluded general elections were on a combing operation in Machkund and Onakadilli areas, when they discovered the devices.

The explosives were packed in metal containers and placed on one side of the road. The security forces defused the IEDs. Additional forces had been rushed to the area.
