250 kg of ganja seized on train

Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel arrested five persons and seized about 250 kg of dry ganja from them in the wee hours of Sunday.

According to GRP Deputy Superintendent of Police, Venkat Rao, based on a tip-off, a team led by Inspector Naveen Kumar raided the general compartment of Mumbai-bound LTT express and arrested the inter-state ganja smugglers and recovered the contraband packed in about 20 bags and stored in the bathroom.

The ganja was procured at Paderu and was being transported to Mumbai. The arrested include P.R. Tulasi Ram Chowhan (36), Ramrao Baburao Pawar (49) Siva P Mohaty (30), Salman Sheik Bikan (40) and Anita Sharat Mohaty (20). All were residents of Aurangabad in Maharashtra. The arrested will be produced before a local court on Monday.
