Twenty-five passengers of a Tamil Nadu State Road Transport Corporation bus were injured, five of them critically, when the vehicle had a brush with a container lorry at Padivetamma Colony on the outskirts of Narayanavanam, 10 km from Puttur, on Friday.
According to the Puttur police, the bus with a full capacity of passengers was on its way to Chennai, and the container lorry was proceeding towards Tirupati when the vehicles hit each other and overturned on the Chennai NH, blocking vehicular traffic. The impact left 25 bus passengers injured, five of them with multiple fractures.
The injured included six women and some children. Most of the injured belonged to Tamil Nadu. The bus driver’s condition is said to be critical.
The injured were rushed to the Government area hospital at Puttur. The police from Narayanavanam and Puttur rushed to the spot and cleared the traffic. A case has been registered.
