Ten schools in rural areas of the district have been given away 10 kits comprising computer, LCD Projector, portable address system and traffic-related equipment, medical kit etc., under the Student Police Cadet scheme of Bureau of Police Research and Development.
Superintendent of Police Rahu Dev Sharma gave away the kits costing a total of ₹ 11.5 lakh at a programme at Armed Reserve, Kailasagiri on Thursday.
Vijnana Bharati; Gayatri; Mahati; Vignan Public School, Chodavaram; Montessori; Don Bosco Schools, Narsipatnam; Government High School, Lochaliputtu, Paderu and Samyukta KJM School, Anakapalle, are among the schools selected for the programme.
Under the scheme, 10 volunteers, experts in their respective fields identified by the government, will impart knowledge and respect towards various laws, traffic safety and discipline and personality development, and playing a responsible role in family, society and country.
Mr. Sharma said every month three classes would be conducted in the schools by police officials along with the experts. For the entire programme, Inspector General N. Sanjay is the State Coordinator and DSP of the District Training Centre R. Srinivas is the district coordinator.
