‘The Hindu’ lensman gets award

VISAKHAPATNAM: Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy and MLC and GITAM University president M.V.V.S. Murthy gave away the ‘Nutana Samvatsara Pratibha Puraskarams’ of Veluvolu Trust, in association with TSR Kalapeetham, on Saturday at AU Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Assembly Hall.

As part of the award, ‘swarnakankanam’ was presented to former MP Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad.

Mr. Prasad recalled his eventful journey in Andhra University after a stint in Loyola College.

Veluvolu Trust chairman Basavapunnaiah, former Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivas, AU Vice-Chancellor G. Nageswara Rao and Registrar V. Uma Maheswara Rao participated.

The other awardees were: president of Rajasthani Samskrutik Mandal Chandmal Agarwal, HoD of Oriental Languages M. Jayadev, weightlifter N. Lakshmi, Director of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital D. Raghunadha Rao, former AU V-C G.S.N. Raju, theatre personalities Kuriti Satyam Naidu and B.V.A. Naidu, and magician B.S. Reddy.

Dance drama

Earlier, Nataraj Music and Dance Academy presented dance drama, ‘Bhageeratha Vilasam’.
