A YSRC activist was killed and ten others injured in group clashes, while a CRPF constable opened fire near a polling station in Seemandhra districts on Wednesday.
YSRC activist N. Beesaaiah (60) was killed in a clash between YSRC and TDP workers in Inagantivaripeta village of Seetanagaram mandal. However, the Rajahmundry Urban police said Beesaiah had died under suspicious circumstances, and that no injury marks were found on his body.
Meanwhile, a mob threw stones at TDP Narsaraopet Lok Sabha candidate Rayapati Sambasiva Rao’s car in Basikapuram village of Guntur district. Mr. Rao escaped unhurt.
In another incident, a CRPF constable, Subesh Chandra Yadav, fired in the air after a mob stormed a polling station in Ramireddypalem village of Rompicherla mandal in Guntur district. The mob allegedly dragged TDP polling agent G. Koteswara Reddy out of the booth.
Nearly 10 people were injured in clashes between TDP and YSRC activists in Isakadarsi and Nakkabotlapadu villages of Prakasham district. A gunman, Venkat Rao, attached to the Denduluru YSRC Assembly candidate, and five others sustained minor injuries in a clash in the district. Two cars were also damaged.
