Hard work and will power were essential for youth to realise their dreams and go to heights in their careers, according to Joint Collector Gaurav Uppal.
Inaugurating ‘Yuvajanotsav', a youth festival being organised by the Youth Welfare Department at Sarada Degree College campus here on Friday, Mr. Uppal said that it was very important for students to fix a goal for their future.
After selecting a goal they should strive to get best results in the courses they have selected. Youth welfare was top on the priorities of the State government. It was coming out with innovative schemes for youth welfare, he said.
He said that the primary objective of Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu was to give eligible youth free training in the vocation of their interest and then settle them in a job. District Youth Welfare Officer Velaga Joshi said that the idea behind organising the youth festival was to bring out the latent talent of the youth and further develop them. He said talented youth from the districts would be sent to participate in State-level competitions. This would give them excellent exposure.
Sarada Degree College principal S.S. Kumar, secretary K. Seetharama Sastry, Red Cross Society district treasurer Ella Ravi and college faculty members were present.
Winners
The progress of a country was in the hands of the youth, Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu said. He gave away prizes to the students who won prizes in the youth festival The names of the prize-winning students and their category were: P. Sirisha, V. Vijayanand (classical dance), Pavan and party and Gopi and party (folk dance), Ranga Rao and Nagaraju (mono action), A Harish and G. Sandeep (mridangam).
In the broader category of classical music vocal – solo carnatic Hari Manas and M.J.S. Vaishanavi, solo Hindustani M.J.S. Vaishnavi, instrumental – flute P. Balaji, tabala D. Madhubabu, Guitar Sk. Meeravalli, elocution A.L.S. Anuhya, B.Naga Jyothirmai V. Nagaraju were announced winners.
